Statement

As someone who has always felt that they don’t fit in, I treasure dejected, unsavory, and unconventional objects. I find great comfort in the abandoned tire on the side of the road, the ticket stub from a film that I viewed with a dear friend, or a bottle cap that had been tossed away once its purpose had been served. These items—  the feelings and circumstances around them—may be overlooked by some. However, I see potential in them. I have made it my mission to give them meaning, to place them on the pedestal that they deserve.

I use meticulous micron pen drawings in the majority of my work as it is the most essential tool in conveying my narrative of fabrication. The drawings are then either coupled with text, textiles, collage, and other found objects to incorporate both physical and metaphorical layers. By utilizing the viewer’s familiarity of these objects and taking them out of context, I hope to challenge them in determining how these aspects of my work shape their own identity, thoughts, and perception of the world.
